What I’m Reading Right Now, part 4

Poetry: The Bull Rider’s Advice: New and Selected Poems, by David Allan Evans

As I’ve said before, Evans, South Dakota poet laureate, is one of the reasons I am a poet today. This collection comprises poems from his books spanning from 1976 to 2000. It also has a section of new poems that have the feel of cleaning up unfinished business. That makes me look forward to what he has coming up next. I’d recommend The Bull Rider’s Advice to anyone looking for an overview of the poet’s career. But his best books, in my estimation, are Train Windows (1976) and Hanging Out With the Crows (1991).
